Online Classes
for Girls

Girls in Afghanistan are barred from studying beyond the sixth grade. In response, and at the direct request of students themselves, Aid Afghanistan for Education launched online classes in August 2023 to ensure their education continues.

Why the Program Exists

Girls in Afghanistan want more than the limited future imposed on them. They asked us for classes that would give them practical skills and the ability to earn a living online and also apply to universities online. Our online education program is a direct response to that call.

  • Students seek skills they can apply in freelance work or remote employment.

  • Many are preparing for international university entrance exams like the SAT and TOEFL.

  • They want to build a future—regardless of the restrictions they face.

What the Classes Offer

Each class is carefully designed to prepare students for academic and professional success in a digital world.

  • Core computer literacy and productivity tools (e.g. Microsoft Office, Google Workspace) and computer programming

  • English language development integrated into every lesson

  • SAT and TOEFL preparation to help students access global education opportunities

Who Teaches the Classes

Our program is taught by a diverse team of highly qualified instructors from around the world. Each brings extensive experience in online teaching and a deep commitment to supporting Afghan girls in their learning journey.

Our Goal

To provide future-focused, high-quality education that empowers Afghan girls to learn, grow, and thrive, no matter the barriers around them. By offering these online classes, we are not only preserving their right to learn, we are helping them build the skills, confidence, and community they need to shape their own futures.

Mariam

Hello, I am Mariam (not her real name). I am 20 years old; I graduated from Qranchi Baba High School. I was interested in the medicine field, and it was my biggest aim to pass in the medicine field. I was working hard—I had a regular schedule of my lessons, and I was very close to achieving my goal.

But, unfortunately, with the coming of the Taliban and not letting girls continue their education, most of the talented girls who were working hard and learning became upset, and it is a painful issue. I was continuing my Kankor exam lessons; I also wanted to start an English online class. Before I started it, I knew little, but now I can write emails, can read and write letters, speak, and can solve problems.

Many thanks to our English teacher, who is helping us. Our teacher is a talented, fantastic teacher, and—at the last—I want to appreciate and give special thanks to my respectful teacher, Khatera Jan, who listened to our questions and has helped us during this period!!

Fariah

Hello, teacher. I hope you are well.

I have learned a lot from this online course. I now know how to use Word, Excel, and PowerPoint in real-life situations, and I’m comfortable working with Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Slides.

I understand how to create effective presentations, deliver them confidently, and focus on the key points while presenting. The lessons have shown me how to protect my computer and data, recognise the differences between Windows and Mac systems, and understand operating systems.

I’ve also mastered proper typing technique, learned what cloud storage is and how to save information online, and discovered how to keep myself safe from dangers on the Internet.

The videos you record are especially helpful. When our connection is poor and we can’t hear you clearly, the recordings let us review the material as often as we need.

I never expected an online course to be so useful, especially because this is my first one. Thank you so much for your hard work. I’m grateful that you teach us.

Sara

First of all, I would like to thank you for all the effort you have put in for us. I have learned a lot about computers.

I now know how to type correctly — one of the most fundamental computer skills. I can confidently use Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, organize emails so they flow smoothly, take screenshots, create slides in PowerPoint, and build tables and schedules in Excel.

I am very satisfied and happy with your course and the lessons you provide.

Thank you.

Noor

My name is Noor (not her real name). After the closure of schools in Afghanistan, education was not favorable for us, and no doors of education opened for girls in our environment. At this time, I started the online English course.

This course is very helpful for us in the field of education, and I have already learned a lot of things—such as reading, writing, speaking, listening, and translating text.

I can solve many problems and want to continue this course so that I can work in an office in the future and progress outside the country. Many thanks to my dear English teacher because of her kindness and hard work.

Sufi

Hello, my name is Sufi (not her real name). I am 19 years old, and I am a university student. Before the English curriculum, I was completely aimless and without a plan. I was at home because my university was closed, but when I received this English class and started studying, it helped me a lot.

It saved me from depression, and I began studying and learning. Now I can speak English little by little, I can read English books, and I also know the meaning of English sentences.

We try very hard. Thanks to those who are at the top and have created these classes.

Thank you. 🙏🏻

Raisa

My name is Raisa (not her real name), and my father’s name is Amanullah. I am in 11th grade. When the situation in Afghanistan changed, all the doors of education closed for girls.

Learning English through this online course is very useful for me. Since I joined this project, I have learned to write emails, letters, and correct grammar; I have improved my reading, writing, speaking, and text-translation skills.

It has helped me solve many problems. Teacher Khatera’s work is very important for us in the field of learning, and I offer special thanks to those who created this project—many thanks to my kind and respectable teacher.

Mariam

Hello, my name is Mariam (not her real name), and I am one of the students in the English class. I am 17 years old and in the 12th grade. I was supposed to graduate from high school this year, but because of the situation in Afghanistan and the Taliban’s order, I couldn’t continue school after the 10th grade.

I was hopeless and depressed until I was introduced to this online school. Everything about this course gave me hope; it motivates me to wake up every day and not give up on my dreams. I want to say thank you to the principal of this school—I dearly appreciate their kindness.

A special thank you to my honorable teacher, Khatera, who has taught me so much in these few months. She is a hard-working and wise teacher—someone I respect and admire a lot.

Sincerely

Nilab

Hello, dear teacher. Thank you for helping us through this difficult time.

As you know, a drastic change in Afghanistan forced all girls to stop studying. I was a first-year medical student when the universities closed. I urgently needed to learn English and computer skills, but continuing on my own seemed impossible. Your decision to create this computer class opened a door for us.

We have learned so much: the internal and external parts of a computer; how to use Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; how to type correctly; and even how to write and send emails.

We are very grateful to you and to everyone involved in this programme for sharing these valuable skills. Our biggest challenge remains the lack of equipment—we still do not have enough computers—and we hope you can launch more useful courses for us.

Hasna

I am Hasna Heydari. I was in the twelfth grade when the Taliban returned to Afghanistan, and I could no longer continue my studies. Before this course, I struggled with computers, but many of those problems disappeared once I started learning here. I have gained so much, and I feel happy and satisfied with both the course and your teaching.

I am eager to keep working with computers to develop my skills, but my family’s finances are limited, so I cannot afford my own device.

So far I have learned how to use Excel and PowerPoint, create well-arranged slides, open WhatsApp on my computer, store files in Google Drive, and much more.

Trina

Hello, dear teacher. Thank you for creating this computer class for us girls — your kindness means the world to us.

Before these lessons, I understood nothing about computers, but through your teaching I have learned so much.

Now I can define what a computer is, distinguish between hardware and software, and type correctly. I know how to write and send emails, use Excel, search for information with Google, save files in Google Drive, create slides in PowerPoint, and work confidently in Word.

We still struggle with poor internet connections, but your patience and dedication keep us going. May God reward you for all your efforts, and may the next classes be just as helpful.

Thank you again.
